Fon Master Ion is actually one of six replicas made from the original Ion. As the seventh replica, he was chosen to become Fon Master because he best matched the power of the original. As an innocent but highly optimistic boy, Ion is the mediator between the two struggling nations with a battle for historical rivalry. The Order of Lorelei is meant to be the neutral party between the nations and Ion is the figure head of this order.

As the leader of the Malkuth Empire and one of the two leaders, he probably has a lot more interaction with Ion then anybody else. Not much is really shown with their relationship but when we are first introduced to Ion, he is being sent to Kimlasca to deliver a letter on behalf of Peony and his wishes for peace. They both seem to be pretty big peace keepers and are generally pretty passive but if pushed the wrong way, Peony would easily act accordingly. There is always a soft spoken bond between passivists and I believe that they probably have a lot of the same views that we never get to see. Put together, I'm sure they're a wonderful team.

Out of the two, Jade has a lot more interaction with Ion then any other character that we actually get to see. When we first meet Jade, he is in search of Ion, who has gone 'missing' and through out the entire journey, he always keeps a bit of an eye on the boy. Knowing full well that it was his own creation of fomicry that lead to the creation of this Ion, Jade probably feels a sort of personal responsibility about the boy. Whether it is under his own personal interest or by orders of Peony himself, Jade keeps Ion within his sights and even instructs him to not push himself if not needed. In Jade's messed up little mind, his interaction with Ion would probably be the closest thing to a father/son relationship he'll ever have.
