≅ master/servant ≅

As much as this is probably the overall assumption of their relationship, I don't think that they truly have the classic master/servant interaction. Sure, of course, Peony is an Emperor and Jade is just a Colonel but their history and bond and respect for each other makes them pretty on par in my mind. I think that without Jade's counsel, Peony might not look at all aspects to a situation. He may think too humainly then logical in certain situations but with Jade there to pick up that slack, I'm sure it's a lot easier to make all around important decisions. Then, with Jade, I believe that if he didn't have someone to keep him in check, he wouldn't really know what to do. After all, Jade doesn't seem to have any other life outside of his position. He doesn't seem to have many personal interests. Those that he used to have, he is trying to be rid of.

So without having something to do, I think Jade would quickly grow bored and probably seek out things to do that may or may not be all that productive. Not to say that Jade would become irresponsible (he is far from it) but I just think that he wouldn't fully know how to work with so much free time. Jade has always been the type of character that constantly has to be doing something or other whether it be an actual job or simply thinking up a solution. So, no, I don't think they have a classic master/servant relationship.
