≅ rivalry ≅

I think their rivalry is a big part of their friendship and although it doesn't show as obvious as other aspects, it is always there and always active. Whether they're taking jabs at each other or trying to match wit with the other, they are constantly in this sort of quiet competition to see who comes out the best at the end of the day. I think their rivalry probably stemmed back from their youth. I have no doubt that with the way Jade was at that age, he would have only really given Peony a second thought if he could actually keep up with him in one way or another. So, likely, it was through their playful competition that their respect for one another grew.

Their fandom build rivalry is probably my favorite part of this aspect of the relationship. I love seeing how they either team up or battle against each other to see who can make some poor soul as miserable as possible (usually Luke or Guy). Also, their actual physical battles are always a pleasure to see pictures or but generally, with them, it's all mind games. It's a battle of wit and charm and being subtle about it. Or outgoing if that is what the situation calls for. Whatever the case may be, they certainly wouldn't have as wonderful of a relationship without the competition between two superior, intellectual beings.
